Jonathan Cainer Zodiac Forecasts

PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
October 15th to October 21st 2007

MONDAY October 15
A free Burma

European foreign ministers meet today in Luxembourg to discuss Burma. Is this to show a powerful, united front? Or just so they can all blame each other when whatever they decide upon proves woefully ineffective? I hope it's the former. I fear it's the latter. But I take no pleasure in pessimism. Nor does it please me to know that the military junta in Burma employs astrologers. My colleagues don't tell them what to do, just when to do it. Still, they are helping a repressive regime. As too, are you and I, whenever we turn a blind eye.

TUESDAY October 16
Pirates amongst the pariahs

Dear Jonathan,
I have spent years studying formal astrology but nobody has taught me how to get a prediction for a whole zodiac sign on any given day.
Rachel

Dear Rachel, Nobody has taught you because 'proper' astrologers disapprove of sunsigns. Nor are the rules laid out in the ancient textbooks of Lilly or Ptolemy. In this area of the art, each forecaster must develop their own method. I once discussed this with the late Patric Walker (pictured). Having agreed that we were pirates, even amongst a community of pariahs, we downed a few beers and swapped hard-won technical secrets!

WEDNESDAY October 17
Animal magic

Hello Jonathan!
Last Saturday, although I had flu, I agreed to check my friend's farm while she went away. In the midst of my chores, I heard an animal cry. Behind a barn, an Angora goat was pinned flat between two steel gates. I ran over and lifted them about three feet as the goat scrambled up and walked away. When I got home, I realised those gates weigh at least 300 pounds. How did I manage to lift such a weight and how did the goat survive?
Carol

Dear Carol,
I don't know but I'm fascinated. Can any readers explain?

THURSDAY October 18
He's soaring, flying...

When I really want to see the future, I ask my daughters. They always know what's about to be hot... and what's not. Over the past two years, for example, High School Musical has not so much been 'compulsory viewing' as 'obsessive compulsive viewing' round at our house. The follow-up came out recently. My teenagers say it 'only just cuts it'. They doubt the third (and final) film will be any good. If so, Zac Efron's time as a living god may end soon. But, for now at least, he reigns supreme. Today, the great teen idol turns 20.

FRIDAY October 19
Losing weight

Carol recently lifted an impossibly heavy gate to save a trapped goat. Several readers have suggested an explanation. Ann thinks, 'It is because so called "truths" are always shifting.' Dina puts it down to a 'surge of adrenaline'. Andrea says it was 'Kundalini energy'. According to Paul, 'weight lifters know all about this. The body protects itself by sending warning signals to the nerves. Under some circumstances, these can be ignored'. Bronwyn says, 'Quantum physics has the answer.' While Stephen's theory involves 'what some Eastern cultures call Ki or Chi energy.' If you happen to be playing rugby this weekend, remember this!

SATURDAY October 20
Mercury remains retrograde

Mercury remains retrograde - and this week it slips so far back along the zodiac pathway that it returns to a position it last held in September. Many of us will find ourselves similarly revisiting old experiences. It's as if we're going right back to decisions that we thought we had fully considered - only to look at them again from a fresh perspective. If you're rethinking a choice, be aware that you are not obliged to stick with it. If, on balance you decide you feel inspired, you can re-commit. Otherwise, you can find a way to back out, back down and move on in another direction.
