Yes and No
|
Dear Jonathan,
My daughter was supposed to go to Japan in late October for a school trip. They are going to the west, Kyoto / Osaka area. Do you think this trip can still go ahead? Krista
Dear Krista, Yes.
Hello Jonathan,
On my phone calendar, under 'events' I've marked 12/21/12 as the date of the end of the world. That's when the Mayan calendar runs out, after all. But with news reports of nuclear radiation polluting water, I'll be changing it to the end of this week. Are we all facing impending doom? Howie
Dear Howie, No.

Neptunian Magic
|
Neptune is often called the 'Houdini of the heavens' - and the real Houdini was a very Neptunian character. Yesterday afternoon, for the first time in 164 years, Neptune returned to what has become known as 'its own sign', Pisces. Appropriately, I hardly noticed at first. I was distracted; writing about how another slow-moving planet has shaped our attitudes and expectations. I'll return soon to that story of Pluto's journey through the zodiac since 1930 and the influence this has had on people's fears. Meanwhile, it's time for us all to look out for a new kind of magic!

Science Fiction
|
I recently shared a rather technical sounding letter about how the world works. I had my doubts about it so I replied with the phrase 'if you say so.' I have since had a response from a reader called Ron who writes, 'Dear Jonathan, Errrmmmm.... Well no actually. Scientists do NOT call electromagnetic radiation 'light'. They call it 'electromagnetic radiation'. And light can be considered either waves or particles, depending upon how you are using it at the time. And magma is not randomly magnetic, otherwise everyone's compasses would be useless.' Thanks Ron. That makes (a bit) more sense!

Like it or Lamp it
|
Hi Jonathan, Perhaps you are getting tired of these tales but I, too, seem to turn off street lamps. The happier I am, the more centred I feel, the more powerful the projection. That is, I turn them off from further away, and more at a time. Sometimes I can knock out three at once. It gets annoying at times. Years ago, in the first weeks of a relationship when I was at the zenith of joy, I recall popping off 13 lights on my walk home of about five blocks. It happens less when I'm feeling down. Rusty

Tarot Readings Hampered
|
Dear Jonathan, Are the results of astrology and tarot cards intended to be the same? In my mind they aren't. Astrology is the study of natural cycles in our solar system while tarot cards are about the choices we make. To me, astrology is like predicting the weather and tarot cards are like planning a picnic. Craig Dear Craig, I like your analogy, though I'm not sure the distinction is quite so clear cut. I do think, though, that there's a time and place for reading tarot cards - whereas there's rarely a moment when a horoscope won't prove helpful!

Your Week Ahead
|
Mercury is retrograde. According to some, this is bad news. It means messages will go astray, journeys will be delayed and business deals may get cancelled. It's true that sometimes, all this happens when the communication planet is going backwards. But much depends on what sign Mercury is in and what alignments it is making to other planets. Mercury has lately been forming a 'positive angle' to Jupiter; planet of hope and success. Now, as it retraces its steps through the sky, it repeats that alignment. For us all, especially in these testing times, that's most auspicious!
