Mercury Retrograde
|
Over the weekend, Mercury turned retrograde. It becomes 'direct' once more in mid-September. Under such cosmic conditions, we expect difficulty and delay with trade and transport, commerce and communication. Some astrologers say it's not a great time to make deals or start plans... but many a successful venture has begun under a retrograde Mercury. It's more likely, in my experience, that these celestial circumstances will imbue a project or process with a degree of reflective wisdom. Look out, tonight, for Venus sinking into the west after sunset while, in the east, Jupiter rises soon after the Full Moon.

Details, Details
|
The Sun has just entered Virgo and the Moon today, enters Pisces. The Moon is Full tonight. N.B. As the Sun is in Virgo, and Mercury is retrograde in that sign too, and as Virgo is all about detail, I should address a technical point. When I say the Sun is in Virgo, I mean it is in the division of the ecliptic that astrologers call Virgo, even though this doesn't correspond exactly with the constellation of that name. We understand this, just as we appreciate that Mercury is not currently, actually going backwards. It just appears to be.

hi jonathan, apologies for lack of punctuation etc, caps key broken... just curious, how was it your nephew was fortunate enough to play in the band at chelsea clintons wedding jennifer
Hi Jennifer, As a proud uncle, I'm inclined to rephrase your question. How was Chelsea fortunate enough to get my nephew to play? Reuben is a graduate of the Berklee College Of Music in Boston. He's a great bass player. His older brother Oscar, meanwhile, is studying astrology. He points out that Chelsea and Reuben share a birthday. I wonder whether your faulty keyboard can be blamed on Mercury retrograde?

Trust
|
Dear Jonathan, I find it difficult sometimes to relax and trust. I am concerned that I may miss an opportunity or make the wrong decision in regards to a new relationship, whether that be romantic or professional. It sounds silly, but at times I have really wobbly moments. Though I know I need changes in my life, I am worried I may not make wise decisions. Carole
Dear Carole, That doesn't sound very silly, it sounds very right, very real and very normal. It isn't always easy to relax and trust. But it's always a good idea to try!

Hi Jonathan,
I am a Sagittarian and I understand that you were also born under this sign. How do the forecasts for your own sign affect you? Ezzie
Hi Ezzie,
When I work, I try not to think about anyone I know. I don't want to 'target' these predictions at my friends and family nor do I want to think about myself. The readings are written in advance. By the time they are current, I have generally forgotten what they contain. Sometimes, I am pleasantly surprised. Sometimes, I just think 'that Jonathan Cainer just doesn't get me at all.'

Your Week Ahead
|
Earlier this year, Neptune returned to the same position that it occupied on the day it was first discovered. It's stlll hanging around the same spot... because it moves so slowly. Compare that with the Moon, which whizzes round the zodiac once every 27.5 days. Or Saturn which takes 27.5 years to circle the sky. Neptune revealed itself to us just as the earliest prototype cameras were being invented. It now completes its 164-year cycle just in time to herald the global advent of 3D TV; which may yet prove as revolutionary and world-changing as the photograph!
