PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY June 21 2010 to June 27 2010 Monday June 21 Sunrise Celebration Solstice greetings! Just before the most important sunrise of the year, a comet appeared in the East. It should remain visible for most of the week till it gets too close to the Sun to be seen. We may, though, briefly catch sight of it again during July's solar eclipse. The solstice always heralds a time of magical possibility. A solstice blessed by a comet is an auspicious omen indeed. Much may be wrong with the world now, and it may be too late to heal many past injuries... but the future is more full of hope than ever. Tuesday June 22 McNaught 2009 R1 That gorgeous green comet in last night's sky bears the unromantic name of 'McNaught 2009 R1'. Robert McNaught is a Scottish Australian who spots lots of comets. That enormous apparition in Perseus, a few years back, was one of his too. The '2009' bit refers to the year he first saw it as a dot in the distance. There is a reason why it's called R1 but it's not very interesting. To me, though, it's the Solstice Comet... and try though the experts may, to make it sound mundane, it will always be an awe-inspiring sign of hope. And I notice that Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Tipper Gore, even Charlie Sheen's wife, are Leos going through troubles or fighting with their demons. What's causing all this? Laura Dear Laura, How about a comet, during a solstice that coincides with a rare cosmic cross? The real story behind all these dramas is that Leos are too important, and special, to keep putting up with pretence or settling for second best. One way or another, they're being freed from what they have outgrown! Thursday June 24 Cosmic Cross Purposes Dear Jonathan, After you wrote about the 'Cosmic Cross' that's taking place over the next few months, I've been surfing the internet. Several astrologers say it's not the time to initiate anything, because the 'event chart' will contain this pattern. But I've got many changes I'd like to bring about at home and work. Many positive new movements will begin under this alignment.
