PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY November 23 2009 to November 29 2009 Monday November 23 Moon Slither 'Mister Moon, Mister Moon, You're up too soon, the Sun is in the sky... So cover up your head, go back to bed, let the rest of the day go by...' My youngest daughter used to sing this song. Now she's eight, though, she's far too grown-up for that. But I might remind her of it today, because the crescent Moon will be out all afternoon. It's planning a fairly early night - but first, just after dark, it has a treat in store. It will make a lovely (and auspicious) pairing with Jupiter. Take a look. Become inspired! Tuesday November 24 Swiss Roll Out Collider (Again) It has been switched on again and in the next week or so, they hope to start smashing particles. If that works, they'll crank up the energy... then, who knows what? The scientists in Switzerland don't. That's why they call the Large Hadron Collider an experiment. It may not involve stars or planets but it fascinates me because it actively 'fiddles' with the very fabric of space... and time. I don't expect an explosion, but I wonder if the outcome will eventually do more than change our understanding of reality. What if it alters some aspect of reality itself? Wednesday November 25 Back to the Future Yesterday, I wondered whether the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland would do more than change our understanding of reality, and alter reality itself. If that sounds far-fetched, here's a quote from Danish 'string theory' pioneer Holger Bech Nielsen and Japanese physicist Masao Ninomiya. Telling The New York Times about the 'Higgs boson' that this experiment is trying to detect, they said it 'might be so abhorrent to nature that its creation would ripple backward through time and stop the collider before it could make one, like a time-traveller who goes back in time to kill his grandfather'. Thursday November 26 Ripple of the Triple Jonathan, You keep mentioning that Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron will soon 'take over' again. So does that mean life might become more peaceful? When will this happen? You never say. Patricia Dear Patricia, Do I really never say? I must be inadvertently adhering to the old astrologer's maxim: 'Never give a specific prediction when you can offer a vague hint and an open-ended suggestion'. This technique worked well for Nostradamus. But, as I'm not him, I'll tell you. Jupiter and Chiron align on December 7, and Jupiter and Neptune two weeks later, but all three are already being helpful. Friday November 27 Competability Dear Jonathan, If people, companies and even countries can have horoscopes, what about pets? Julia Dear Julia, Astrologers often get asked to draw up a chart for someone's doggy or moggie, but there are issues. Some creatures are only ever born at a particular time of year. A registration certificate may reveal when a pet was bought, not when it was born. And animals tend to alter their personalities when they live close to humans. I rather feel if you want to know what the stars foretell about a pet, you should check the chart of the owner! Saturday November 28 Your Month Ahead The Holiday season doesn't always provide everyone with much by way of a holiday. It can be a time of conflict and pressure too. This year though, in the weeks between now and the celebration of that great traditional feast, there really is something to look forward to. Jupiter Neptune and Chiron are preparing to repeat the rare 'triple conjunction' that they formed earlier this year and that filled so many people's lives with so much for potential for hope and healing. There really could be some goodwill to all in the air before long. And we might all expect December to be less of a stress than usual!
