All Things Being Equal
|
During the days surrounding the March equinox, the axis of the earth neither tilts towards, nor away from, the Sun. Perhaps this is why many readers have recently reported a renewed sense of equilibrium. It may also explain why others say that they are starting to see the other side of issues that previously looked inarguable to them. There's something 'right and fair' about daylight and darkness getting equal celestial screentime. Unlike its counterpart on the civil calendar, astrological new year offers us a real fighting chance to keep to any heartfelt resolutions we now feel inspired to make.

Having Our Ups and Downs
|
Astrologers don't all tell fortunes. Some dedicate their lives to serious research, They pore endlessly over horoscopes, looking for proof of old assertions or tracking down new ways to read alignments. Every so often, they publish their findings for the benefit of the community. Or, at least, most do. Some sell the fruits of their research privately or offer themselves as consultants to investors. Word reaches me that some of my colleagues are advising clients to expect the markets to rise steadily, then drop sharply, two or three times before the world makes its way back to full recovery.

Conscious Capitalism
|
Yesterday, I mentioned that some of my colleagues expect the market to rise slowly and fall sharply several times before full recovery. But what does full recovery mean? If the economy were a patient, we might expect it to emerge from intensive care and eventually lead a normal life. 'Normal' for the economy though, usually means 'growth'. Growth tends to be at the direct expense of the environment. My own reading of the Saturn-Uranus opposition that dominates the sky till 2010, is that we will never go back to this. The next phase of the future involves 'conscious capitalism'.

New beginnings...
|
We are in the Dark of The Moon; the couple of nights each month when no Moon can be seen. Back when moonlight was the only light at night, such times were preferred by those with secret journeys to make. Secrets in the sky, though, then become easier to see because bright moons obscure the light of dim, distant stars. To astrologers, the Dark of The Moon symbolises a fortuitous time for new beginnings. Mystics, meanwhile, speak of a curtain that shrouds the future from the present. To them, in the Dark of The Moon, that veil becomes diaphanous.

Einstein said...
|
Dear Jonathan,
Einstein said "A human being is a part of the whole universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Your Week Ahead
|
This week, we cross an imaginary border between March and April. It is not patrolled by guards or customs officers. The dates just roll on by, measuring the journey of the Earth as it rolls around the Sun. Like passengers on a spacecraft, we focus mainly on the state of our living quarters and note the year-long circles that our ship is describing in the sky with only passing interest. But just as all Saturdays are not all the same, all months are not identical. Coming soon, on our collective journey, is a time of 'mass awakening' that we have not experienced for many decades.

Celebrity Sunday

Michael Jackson is heading for the greatest comeback of all time this summer. Jonathan looks at what the future holds for the self-styled King Of Pop.
You might expect Michael Jackson to belong to a more limelight loving sign than Virgo. But Michael's relationship with fame has always been troubled. At the height of his success, he hid behind a fantasy character and gave his public image the same meticulous attention to detail that he gave his music. In the studio though, you can chop and change till you've got it 'just so'.
