PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

February 18 2008 to February 24 2008

Monday February 18
The time between eclipses

Is there an aspect of your past that you wish you could alter? This week, in a strange way, you CAN. We're still betwixt and between a pair of eclipses. This only happens a couple of times a year for a couple of weeks at a time. Just as the 'Dark of the Moon' makes it easier to pierce the veil that hides the future from the present, the eclipse fortnight brings revelations about tomorrow... and yesterday. It allows us to rewrite history by awakening valid but buried memories. That possibility becomes even stronger now, while Mercury is stationary.

Tuesday February 19
Pluto: distant and dark, but powerful

Dear Jonathan,
Some astrologers believe that, because Pluto is practically beyond the reach of sunlight, it has no influence. It is, they say, 'in a cave'. Would you agree?
Adil

Dear Adil,
Pluto's governs whatever people put 'in a dark place'. As individuals (and as nations) we have fears, resentments, obsessions and compulsive behaviour patterns. These are things that we simply cannot fully recognise in ourselves, far less be objective about. Yet the contents of our 'cave' can have an enormous influence on our lives. Pluto may be small dark and distant but it is a very powerful force.
Jonathan

Wednesday February 20
Glorious Lunar Eclipse

A glorious lunar eclipse will be visible tonight. It lasts for several hours from 'first bite' to last clearance. The Moon will turn crimson and some think, at totality, it should appear brefly turquoise. It's visible in the UK from around 1am - 5am. If you're not staying up all night, set your alarm for 3am and take a brief look. Assuming the cloud cover is not to thick it will prove well worth interrupting your sleep for. It is, of course, on view much earlier in the USA - and it happens a little later across continental Europe. When you see it, make three wishes... one for your own wisdom and growth.. one for the wellbeing of a loved one.. and one for the world!

Thursday February 21
Lunar eclipse

Early mornings. Late nights. All par for the course when you study the stars. Last night I sat up long past bed time, watching the shadow fall slowly over the Moon.

At first, I just kept one eye on the celestial spectacle while I recorded the latest set of in depth zodiac forecasts. Eventually though, I had to give my full attention to the incredible vanishing act in the sky.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Pay close attention please. For my next trick, I shall make the Moon disappear."

All that was missing, really was the hand of the cosmic conjurer and, perhaps, a member of the audience to ensure that the Moon was genuine... and that there was nothing hidden up the sleeve of the illusionists gown.

I watched in rapture and then... just as the crucial moment approached... I lost visual signal. Thick clouds passed over the moon and, like electronic interference on a satellite dish, they shut off the show.

I rang friends across the globe and begged them for commentary. It turned out to be quite a nice way to get the information. I could picture it in my mind's eye too... and that helped as well. But still... the weather did to me what I predicted it might do to many of us. Oh well. There's always next time.

Meanwhile, I have seen enough to be sure of one thing. The volatile countries across the world that look as if they could spring into war at a moments notice... are more stable than we think.

Saturday February 23
Your Weekend

The eclipse season is behind us. Ahead? A time of settlement and stability. Reassurance, comfort and... Oh well, I suppose, just a little struggle and stress. This week, sharp alignments between Venus and Mars plus the Sun and Saturn, promise much to react against and object to. If, though, we are wise enough not to let these sources of antagonism upset us too much, we will find far more to celebrate and enjoy. A new dawn is bringing light to the whole world. But for those who want to keep on wearing dark glasses, it may still be some long while before it is seen.
