Sorry to keep going on about this. I know I am beginning to sound like a broken record, but then that's my concern. Scientists freely admit there's a chance this experiment could change the fabric of space... and time. It could speed it up, slow it down or even cause it to stand still. We could all start saying or doing the same thing, over and over. We could all start saying or doing the same thing, over and over and over. And some of us might not even notice! The Large Hadron Collider Across the globe, hungry people wait for supplies of food and medicine, patients are placed in long queues for essential operations, and basic social facilities are routinely cut back to save money. Yet international governments have still managed to divert billions towards the cost of a scientific experiment in Switzerland which is designed to recreate the big bang. Will it be successful in changing and challenging the forces that govern space and time? Well, you could argue that by its very existence... the Large Hadron Collider has already managed to increase the interval between crucial events on earth. The Large Hadron Collider The first particle beam will go hurtling round the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland some time this morning. Actual collisions will not start till October, but today clearly brings an official beginning. A moment of 'now' that contains the seed of many more moments to come. This scientific experiment is moving from gestation to birth. It is emerging as a Virgo with Saturn in Virgo, the Moon and Jupiter in Capricorn plus a conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Mars in Libra. Thursday September 11 For the last time... or maybe the first time... The Large Hadron Collider Well, we are all still here. Or perhaps we just think we are. Perhaps our psychic selves are doing their best to carry on but our physical selves vanished into a Black Hole shortly after the Large Hadron Collider was switched on. If we are all now living in a dream, how can we tell? One way might be to check for serendipity. Have you experienced any inexplicable coincidences lately? If not, be at least partially reassured. Hi Jonathan, The Large Hadron Collider has not yet started colliding and won't go to full power till next year. Michael Hello Jonathan, Eminent German scientist, Dr Otto Rossler, does not agree that the experiment is harmless. He foresees danger in about fifty months. The Mayan calendar ends in December 2012. Saturday September 13 Your Weekend Sunday September 14 Your Week Ahead Normally, as we approach a Full Moon, life gets more intense. Slowly, as the Moon begins to wane, things calm down. The Full Moon we're dealing with now, though, is accompanied by a triple conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Mars. Think of the sky as a giant clock face and imagine that trio of planets at 6. Up at 11, there's Uranus and at 10, Neptune. The unusual angles formed between all these imply that restless energy will remain in the air all week.
