PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
June 11th to June 15th
MONDAY JUNE 11
Politicians
This, I promise, will be my last word on the British general election. Not that I have said much about it. There hasn't been much to say. We all knew who would win. We all knew too, what the politicians would say. "Bla bla bla bla bla... " That's what they always say. That's why so few people bothered to go out and vote. The politicians now say that this is dreadful. Something must be done. But what? Fix our dodgy, doddery voting system? Dear me no. They have a very different idea. Guess how it goes. ... ... "Bla bla bla bla bla."
TUESDAY JUNE 12
Mozart
"A man of ordinary talent will always be ordinary, whether he travels or not; but a man of superior talent (which I cannot deny myself to be...) will go to pieces if he remains for ever in the same place." The words above come from Mozart, who was an Aquarian. Other Aquarians though, are not at all like this. Oh dear me no. ...I keep thinking about Mozart at the moment. It's partly because my phone plays one of his tunes whenever it rings but it's mainly because of a headline in yesterday's Mirror: "Mozart Killed By Pork Chop" ... ... eh??? .... The mind boggles.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 13
Casino
For the very first time ever I found myself, the other night, in a casino. Don't ask why. Oh, all right then, do. After a long night of horoscope interpretation, some of my colleagues said "Let's go out and watch the forces of fortune at work." So we did. We neither made nor lost a fortune but I gained, I think, a valuable insight. I saw that every person in that room was engaged in a psychic struggle to summon the luck genie. Some managed. Some didn't. But even those who did, only ever got one reward. More money with which to gamble.
THURSDAY JUNE 14
Luck genie
At one point, in the casino, all eyes turned to a man who was winning at roulette, every single time. Had he found the luck genie? Were the others were right to stop because the genie was clearly busy? Maybe. But many think there is a genie per person. The trick, they say, is to build a trusting yet sensible relationship with it - and not to be to quick to judge the genie. We may lose a purse, only to realise later how this has helped us to find a friend - or we may win a "key to success" only to find that it only opens a can of worms.
FRIDAY JUNE 15
Mars
Mars is now exceptionally big and bright in the night sky. That's partly because it is opposite the Sun but mainly because it is now as close to us as it ever gets. Not so close, I hasten to add, as to pose a threat. 42 million miles is a safe distance. Nor so close, I rush to explain, as to show the "face" we were recently debating. But Mars is, let me quickly tell you, so huge, red and shiny that it now looks like a UFO. Why all this hurrying? Because Mars is the planet of urgency - as many people may discover this weekend... whoops, is that the time? Must dash.
