PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
January 29th to 31st 2001
MONDAY JANUARY 29
Population and re-incarnation
Experts tell us that there are more people, alive on this earth today, than have EVER lived before. I.E. if you add together the entire number of different individuals who have been born since humans first arrived on this earth, the final figure is LOWER than six billion; which is the approximate population of the world right now. Clearly, this calculation is based on a lot of assumptions. If it is correct though, what does it tell us about re-incarnation?
TUESDAY JANUARY 30
Increasing population
If you add up the people who have ever lived, since the dawn of time, you get a big number. It is probably not though, as big as the number of people who are alive today. Never before have so many of us been on this planet at once. I wonder, why now? Is there something in particular that everyone has come here to witness or to experience? The answer to this may depend on the answer to a further question. Is there ROOM here for many more? Tomorrow, I'll address this contentious issue.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 31
Selfish population?
Over six billion people live on this planet. More are arriving by the day. Some people find this worrying. They point to our crowded cities and our fragile economies and ask if the world can support more inhabitants? Even in densely populated regions though, there are vast tracts of uninhabited land. Our planet could easily supply food and shelter to a few billion more if only its current population felt inspired to be less selfish, fearful and short-sighted.
